Edith Katiji, professionally known as Edith WeUtonga, is a groundbreaking bassist, mbira player, singer, and songwriter from Zimbabwe. Leading her band, Utonga, she delivers an authentically Zimbabwean sound infused with Jiti, Chimurenga, Shona folk, and global music flavours like Rhumba, Reggae, Calypso, and Jazz. She has twice been nominated for and won the Best Female Musician at Zimbabwe’s premier NAMA Awards, as well as the Zimbabwe Music Awards. Beyond her musical talents, Edith has made significant strides in advocating globally for musicians’ rights and is a member of the One World Orchestra, delivering workshops for displaced communities seeking refuge in the UK.
